Many team members spend decades of their lives committed to preserving our nation’s security in a variety of ways. After 43 years of outstanding Federal service, Anthony “A.J.” Gipson has retired as the Director for NNSA’s Office of Preparedness for Emergency Operations. After graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1977, Gipson started out as a Master Navigator, logging over 2,600 flight hours on B-52 and B-1B bombers. He later transitioned to munitions maintenance supervisor, commanded a munitions maintenance squadron, and then became Director of Maintenance for the B-1B.
Crowning his 23-year Air Force career, Gipson was named Director of Stockpile Management for the Defense Special Weapons Agency and the Executive Staff Director for NNSA.
