The EMI SIG Steering Committee approved the development of a Chemical Screening Repository (CSP) and New Emergency Management Analyst training on the Fundamentals of Hazards Survey Development.  Both of these proposals were presented to the Subcommittee for Technical Analysis and Response Support (STARS) at this year’s Annual Meeting.

The CSP is intended to promote information sharing and collaboration amongst analysts across the DOE complex, while also reducing duplicative and unnecessary effort by analysts, particularly when it comes to rare or unusual chemicals that other analysts have previously encountered.  The repository will be setup in the near future as a SharePoint site through EMI SIG.  The Chairperson is Derrick Seiner.

A computer-based training course on the Fundamentals of Hazards Survey Development is intended to provide guidance, especially to new Emergency Management Analysts, on all aspects of Hazards Survey development including addressing all-hazards (e.g., natural hazards, technological hazards, and human-caused incidents), determining applicability of generic emergency conditions and potential impacts for facilities/activities, identifying hazardous materials inventories, and screening hazardous materials.  The Chairperson is Melissa Douglas.
